Found It | Rocked It | Ripped It | Finished It!

FOUND IT!
I finally found a recipe for homemade granola that I like.  It has good flavor, great consistency (crunchy!), and was easy to make.  I've enjoyed it with yogurt and fruit, mixed with various cereals, and even on salads.

Granola by Marie Orton
Ingredients:
3 c. rice crisps
4 c. raw oats
1/2 c. pumpkin seeds
1/2 c. coconut
1/2  c. sunflower seeds
1/2 c. walnuts (I used pecans)
1/2 c. craisins or raisins
2 T. molasses
4-5 T. honey
1/3 c. canola oil

Instructions:
Turn oven on to 350 degrees. Put all the dry ingredients into a bowl in the order that they're listed except the craisins/raisins and do not mix just yet. Boil together molasses, honey, and canola oil for 2-3 minutes.  Pour the liquid mixture on the ingredients in your bowl and then stir.  The reason for the hold on the stirring is because the rice crispies suck up all the liquid before it has a chance to cover the other stuff. So the crispies are on the bottom waiting their turn! :) Pour the mix out onto a rimmed cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes.  When it's finished, add the craisins/ raisins.  So good!

ROCKED IT!
Last Saturday I made a coupon run to Walgreens and when I came home, I told Joe, "I just rocked Walgreens world!"  Thank you to Pam Morgan for giving me multiples of the same coupons.  It paid off this time, especially to get me some new make up!  A lot of these items were B1G1 (Buy one get one) 50% off.  For example, the edge shave gel... it was B1G1 50% off and I had a coupon for each of them.  The razors were B1G1 50%, regularly $8.99 each... so there's a $4.50 savings right there, plus I had a $6 off coupon when you buy 2!  So, two packs of razors, regularly $18.00 for $7.48.  And I just have to mention the make up deal because it was sweet! It was also B1G1 50% off.  I had 6 coupons so I was going to get 6 items and each would be half off already.  Well, there was also a Loreal make up coupon in the Walgreens monthly coupon book so I actually was able to stack 3 deals into one!!  B1G1 50% + $1 off all Loreal make up out of the Walgreens book + 2 manufacturer coupons= new foundation powder and eye shadow for $10.50, marked down from $19.00.  Rocked it! Total savings= $47.54.

RIPPED IT!
Intramural football season has begun and somebody on the opposing team last week took the phrase, "rip it up," a little too literally.  It's flag football so you can see what happens when your flags are mistaken for your drawers and tugged on!  When the incident occurred, I heard somebody whistle and I knew my pants had bit the dust!  So, I borrowed somebody's pants, put them over top, and finished the game.  I love flag football.  Last week I played in an annual powder puff game + my intramural game and had 3 touchdowns between the two.  So fun... so fun!

FINISHED IT!

I finished my flannel quilt last night!! It's made completely from circle cuts! It was the fastest quilt to cut out, but took a good amount of time to piece together.  I started it in July.  Finished it in October.  It was a lot of fun to make.  I just drool over quilting patterns these days.

Each circle was 10" in diameter with a different color flannel on each side.

I folded the four edges of the circle to the front to make a square.

With all the circles folded over on to the front, the back is checkered with cute top stitched circle patterns.

Wow, Natacheese! I love all this stuff, but especially your quilt! It's beautiful. And inspiring. I actually have started a stash of old shirts from college that were taking up too much space to make a quilt out of... you did that too, right?

Nice job on the quilt Nat! I'm impressed! I LOVE what you were able to do at Walgreens too! I love going there and getting a good deal!

I also want to ask you if I can use your picture of the BYU shirt quilt that you made in my next Bits Of Everything post? I hope you don't mind. Do you want me to link back to your blog or anything? Facebook message me if you want me to tell you what I'm using if for! :)

Showing some leg there....I like it! And I absolutely LOVE that quilt. Something I'm sure I'll never make, but it's amazing. And I'll have to try that granola.
