I live for the Weekends!

Working during the summer months is a drag.  Let's be honest, we would all rather be outside enjoying the sunshine, right?! So, right now I am living for the weekends!  We have had a really fun July.

Fourth of July weekend we went to watch the parade in our town.  It's a good thing we weren't late because it only lasted 15 minutes.  No marching bands.  No floats.  Just people on cars of all sorts and lots of candy being handed out to those 4 ft tall and shorter. It was a good time though.

Here are our little friends, Nadya and Sam with their parade booty.

That night, we had a BBQ at our friend's the Woodhead's house and then watched the fireworks from a nearby church parking lot. Here we are with our new found friends, the Hiltons....
 and Brigid
 and Ben Woodhead!
The next weekend, Joe invited the young men from our church to sleepover at our house.  I was really excited to see what a teenage boy sleepover consisted of and it was exactly what I thought it would be....
First, they all went to Wally World (Walmart) and bought lots of junk food (and they ate every ounce of it!)

They turned up the tunes and danced about as they played Wii sports until the wee hours of the morning.

Joe was in his element, it seemed.  A bunch of boys, all competitive, being kids.

I tried to stay out of their way most of the night by isolating myself in my craft room with a chick flick and quilting, but I did come out to enjoy the festivities a couple of times.  The stuffiness of the room and "boy smell" was enough to get me back in my craft room rather quickly, however. :)

In the morning, the boys did Wii yoga to keep up their boyish figures after all the junk food from the night before.

and we had pancakes made by Joe!  He is a master pancake maker.

This weekend, we took off for two days to lake Thunderhead in Northern Missouri. We were invited by some friends in our ward, the Aulds, to go boating with their family and we couldn't wait to go!  We invited Megan and Dan Hilton to go with us.  We love them! We camped in their humongous tent, which we referred to as the "Hilton hotel" and stayed up way late playing Settlers of Catan and eating Megan's peanut butter bars. Mmmm.

We went boating Friday night and most of the day Saturday.  We stayed on the lake on Friday until after dark and went for a night swim.  The lights from the houses all along the shore made for an amazing sight as they twinkled on the lake.

The Aulds loved that Joe was a "boater."  He knew how to drive, how to rope up the tubes, how to get the boat into the dock, etc. and they were so happy to be able to relax on their boating outing more than usual.
Most of the time, we had 2 tubes hooked up behind the boat.  They're big enough for 2 people each, but it was really fun when one person got on each.  Especially the weightier men had a lot of success in bumping into each other and knocking off each other.
There goes Joe.  Wade beat Joe 3 to 0 on knock offs.
Meagan, Aubrey, and Dan soakin in the sun.

Here is the whole Auld family. Possibly one of the funnest families to hang with.  Good times.

Looks like so much fun! That sleepover sounded like a blast for the boys. (I'm surprised the church allowed that.) Miss you guys!
